This fibre optic sensor cable by Delock is used in conjunction with a compatible fibre optic sensor amplifier for non-contact object detection based on the diffuse-reflective principle. In this process, light is emitted onto the object and its reflection is used for detection. The cable features two POF optical fibres, which are integrated into a single stainless steel sensor head. The sensor head features an M3 x 0.5 mm external thread for mounting.

Diffuse Reflective Object detection via light reflection
Light is transmitted from the sensor amplifier to the sensor head via an optical fibre and emitted onto the object to be detected. The light reflected by the object is returned to the sensor amplifier via a second optical fibre. The sensor amplifier thereby detects whether an object is present in front of the sensor head and can output a corresponding switching signal. An opposite receiver or separate reflector is not required. The sensor cable is suitable, for example, for applications in automation technology, mechanical engineering or for position control.
