This fibre optic sensor cable by Delock is used in conjunction with a compatible fibre optic sensor amplifier for contactless object detection based on the coaxial reflective principle. In this process, light is emitted onto the object and its reflection is used for detection. The sensor head contains a central transmitter fibre, which is surrounded by several receiver fibres. The sensor head features an M4 x 0.7 mm external thread for mounting.

Coaxial Reflective Object detection via coaxial light reflection
Light is transmitted from the sensor amplifier to the sensor head via the centrally positioned optical fibre and emitted onto the object to be detected. The light reflected by the object is picked up by the nine surrounding receiving optical fibres and returned to the sensor amplifier. This enables the sensor amplifier to detect whether an object is present in front of the sensor head and to output a corresponding switching signal. An opposite receiver or separate reflector is not required. The sensor cable is suitable, for example, for applications in automation technology, mechanical engineering or for position control.
